Location: Office in Morrisville, PA, Travel to Plant Sites in NJ, Eastern PA

So what does an EHS Specialist do? You’ll be an integral part of our EHS Team.

The most important responsibility of the EHS Specialist is to ensure the safest possible work environment for all Silvi Materials employees.

Reporting directly to the Director of EHS, the EHS Specialist will administer and implement EHS programs to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state health, safety and environmental laws, regulations, and standards. The EHS specialist will work directly with operations daily to ensure compliance with Silvi Materials Policies and Procedures and be a resource for all Silvi Materials employees.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Conduct EHS audits at both Silvi locations and jobsites.
  • Conduct incident investigations.
  • Conduct RCAs for incidents and propose viable solutions to prevent similar events. Monitor open events to ensure completed on time.
  • Develop and deliver training such as Smith System, New EE Orientation, MSHA Annual Refresher etc.
  • Represent Silvi during OSHA/MSHA/DOT/DEP inspections.
  • Work with insurance adjusters to work through and close claims.
  • Interface and work with occupational clinics to ensure claims processes align with Silvi policies. Maintain working claims files.
  • Create and analyze reports, providing analysis and feedback on EHS matters.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience in Redi-Mix Concrete, Cement, Aggregates, Mining or similar field in either an Environmental or Safety role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science or other relevant courses of study.
  • Experience conducting audits.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations.
  • Experience delivering training.
  • Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of MSHA, OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to work in both an outdoor and indoor professional setting.
  • Ability to self-direct work, be a self-starter and have a team mentality.
  • Ability to plan work on a daily, weekly, quarterly and yearly basis with the ability to self-manage through deadlines.
  • Ability to provide support for operations on weekends, evenings and during non-typical hours as needed.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to maintain an active Driver’s License and have a good driving record. Must have ability to safely operate company vehicle in accordance with Silvi’s policies including MVR checks.
  • Work location is in Fairless Hills, PA. This position does not have WFH ability.
  • First Aid/CPR Training Certifications a plus.
  • Experience with Smith Driving Principles a plus.
  • Experience with SMS/LMS mgmt. such as KPA, Intelex or similar a plus.
  • Experience with fleet management tools such as Samsara, Lytx, Motive or similar a plus.
  • Experience with claims (WC/TP) management a plus.
  • Experience with Environmental permitting (air, water) a plus.
  • ASP, CSP a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires a stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to a significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
  • Must be able to work at heights; climb stairs, ladders, and silos
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Requires Concrete chipping, shoveling, sweeping, and greasing of plant equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with employees and other individuals, as well as function safely within an office environment and, on occasion, may visit industrial plant locations
  • Requires a stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to a significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with employees and other individuals, as well as function safely within an office environment and plant locations
